How long does DNA last?(www.guardian.co.uk)
Human DNA has been recovered from a Neanderthal fossil 70,000 yearsold.
That’s a record, but there may be plenty of DNA recoverable from ahuman
body 10, 50 or even 150 years after death.
How long will frozen DNA last?(www.frozenark.org)
Recently the frozen remains of a mammoth were found in the
Siberianpermafrost. It was estimated that it had been there for 30,000
years,at an average temperature of -10°C, but it contained DNA of
highquality. If DNA is stored in liquid nitrogen at -196°C as we plan,
itshould survive intact for many hundreds, and possibly thousands
ofyears.
